Trigger Happy -original watercolor
A watercolor painting on Yupo medium paper. Trigger fish are pretty rowdy. They have people teeth and come in a wide range of colors depending on where they live. This guy is happy in his grape crystal water.
Yupo is a 100% polypropylene sub-straight. Wax is applied to the surface, then painted over with luscious watercolor. Layer after layer is stacked until the perfect colors present. Trigger Happy was an experiment with softer colors. I’m loving this purple and gold. Never considered a trigger fish regal until today.
Can be viewed at Wendy Patrick Designs in Port St Joe, Florida.
This piece is sold unframed.

Yupo paper is a surface typically used for alcohol inks; however in my application with watercolor, the paint responds similarly to thin acrylics and can be backed out of an area. As the paint and water scoot across the surface, there is a limit to the control you can have. This substrate enables you to paint loose.
